Check out the summary:

The perfect man to keep her company: a man she builds.

It’s no surprise that the robot market is booming, and her company is in a race to develop the perfect male specimen. As one of the many scientists on the project, Amy realizes how historic her work is. Soon, people won’t be able to tell the difference between humans and robots at all.

She decides to bring the prototype robot home to…test out its abilities, but she’s interrupted by her coworkers who discover where the robot is. Amy has to think up a way to get them out of her house so she can get back to focusing on her newfound cravings. She’s running out of time–the robot needs returning, but she can’t until she satisfies every bit of her curiosity.

If you enjoy stories of steamy science fiction and obedient robots, then you’ll love Ready For Market.

Amy waited in the restaurant lobby with a million different thoughts racing through her mind. It occurred to her that life for a hard-working, single woman wasn’t always ideal. Here she was with plenty of work to be done at the lab and she was stuck waiting for a date who was ten minutes late, and counting.

It was hard to not think about all the other productive things she could be doing. There were many finishing touches that needed to be put on her latest project in the field of robotics. She got so lost in thought that when her date called her name, it startled her.

“Hey Amy,” Hal called, strolling over. “Sorry I’m a little late. I had a bunch of people over last night, and I had to clean up after, but you probably just got here yourself.”

  “Actually I–”

“So if we could just get to a table here. Damn, looks like this place is a full house tonight.”

“I think the maître ‘d is supposed to seat us.”

“The maître ‘d? Is this one those fancy French places with their noses in the air?”

She eventually convinced him to wait. As they were led to their table, Amy took a closer look at her date’s clothing. His shoes were closer to loafers and he had a dark jacket that looked a size too big. It annoyed her, especially since she took such care to get herself properly dressed for the evening.

They took a seat at the table and the waitress arrived, handing them menus. “Take your time deciding what you’d like, and I’ll be back shortly to take your order.”

As she said this, she made the mistake of leaning over, giving Hal an eyeful of cleavage. His gaze lingered even as she left the table. “I already have a pretty good idea of what I want.”

“So…tell me about this party you had last night.”

“It was pretty wild, but as the best man, I had to set my friend off right. I arranged everything. But here’s the thing with strippers: always agree on a rate in advance. Otherwise you’ll end up broke by the end of the night.”

She bit back the reply she really wanted to give. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

He glanced at the menu and released a low whistle. “Wow, speaking of being broke, these meals are crazy expensive.”

He was like a walking cartoon who just wouldn’t stop talking. By the evening’s end, she was happy to be done with him.

“Look, this was a nice date and everything,” Hal said, walking her to the parking lot. “But maybe next time, we should go to a sports bar or something. It’s cheaper with better music.”

“Well, as far as a next time is concerned, I’m not sure that–”

“Don’t worry. You may not have been Miss Personality tonight, but I get it. You’re shy. But I’m sure you’ll loosen up.” He lunged for a goodnight kiss, but missed the mark.

Having dodged another awkward moment, Amy scampered to her car. “Bye, Hal. Have a good night.”

The beep her car made as she unlocked it drowned out whatever he said in reply. She took a deep sigh and reflected on the evening. It was one thing to sit through his bad jokes and roaming eyes, but it was entirely another to expect her to do it all over again.

She decided the best way to turn around the evening was to head to the lab. She’d already admitted to herself that she was a workaholic; that didn’t bother her. Besides, she was looking forward to using the data from that night to program into her robot what not to do. If she was going to program the perfect male companion, she needed to have good examples of what kind of behavior to avoid. And Hal had given her much more than she expected.
