Sometimes, you just knew. Kelly glanced over at her husband. And who was she to fly in the face of fate?

She’d just known with her husband, right from the moment she first laid eyes on him. Ryan had walked into the bookstore where she worked, strode straight over to her, and held out a copy of a pretentious literary novel.

“I want to return this.” He grinned at her, his expression going against the negativity of his words. “I hated it.”

“Me too!” Kelly said and realized at once that she was flirting with this guy. At six foot tall, in a sharp suit that made him look as though he’d just walked out of some high-powered meeting, how could she not? She looked up into his pale, blue eyes and felt herself flush, as though her body was trying to let her know that something important had just happened.

Two years later, they were married. It had been a whirlwind, but Kelly loved every second of it. In fact, sometimes she wondered how she’d managed without him. When she looked back on the times before they’d met, it felt like a jigsaw piece was missing, so obvious in retrospect. They loved each other painfully, moving into a place out in the suburbs and making a life for themselves. Everything was perfect. Even the one thing they knew they could never tell their friends and families about.

Ever since they’d met, Kelly and Ryan had been open about their kinks and desires–he always knew just what to whisper in her ear as he slipped his hand between her legs to drive her crazy, and she did too. They spent the first few months dancing around the unspoken thing between them, until finally, Ryan came out and said it.

“Have you ever thought about…swinging?” he asked, leaning over the bed and tracing a finger up Kelly’s bare back. She glanced over at him, but his face was blank. No hints on how he hoped she’d respond. She shrugged.

“I don’t know,” she lied. Truth was, it was high up on her list of her favorite fantasies, but she’d never found a partner who seemed to care as much about it as she did. It sucked, but she’d resigned herself to the fact that her boyfriends were all going to turn out to be too jealous and too controlling to want to share her with someone else–let alone multiple people.

The conversation trailed around in circles for a while, but eventually both of them admitted that swinging was something they’d thought about for a long time. Giggling, they found themselves logging on to a kink site and putting in their profile details, snapping photographs, and exchanging excited glances as the messages rolled in. Before long, they’d picked out a couple to meet up with, and their life as swingers took off in no time.

Kelly loved swinging–loved the feel of it, the passion, and the way the two of them went home afterward hungry for each other. There had been more than one occasion when they were forced to pull over before they got home to have another go after spending the night watching one another enjoying someone else. The mixture of consensual jealousy and new discoveries was heady, and they never seemed to get tired of it.

However, about six months after their wedding, all of their swinging partners seemed to dry up at once. Without giving up hope, they poked around the kink site, looking for a pair who might be open to their advances, but found nothing. It was as though the entire kink community collectively went quiet.

“Any ideas?” Kelly asked, turning to Ryan with a sigh as she finished up another fruitless online search.
